Number of Channels: Continuously Sweeps Band for Interrogation Signal every 2.2 Sec
Part of: APX-1
Antenna: AT-32
Description: Aircraft Transponder AN/APX-1 is a mark III IFF transponder. It scans the frequency range every 2.5 seconds looking for an interrogation signal and replies with a reply consisting of 6 combinations of narrow (5-9 microsec) and wide (15-34 microsec) pulses. It includes an emergency switch which send a very wide (75-150 microsec) pulse as a distress signal. It contains a distructive charge which may be set off by the pilot or by an enertia switch on crash landing. Equipment utilizes superregenerative receivers utilizing type 6C4 tubes which double as the transmitter.
