JAN Type: AN/ARC-55A
Nomenclature: Radio Set
Reference: TM 11-5821-210-XX
NSN: 5821-00-543-1891
Components: RT-349A/ARC-55 Receiver-Transmitter, MT-1536/ARC-55 Mount, C-1827/ARC-55 Control
Weight: 65
Mode: 6A3
Frequency Range: 225-399.9 MHz
Power Input: 27.5 VDC
Power Output: 9 W
Number of Channels: 1750
Channel Spacing: 100 kHz
Replaced By: ARC-51X, ARC-51BX
Part of: ARC-55A
Antenna: AT-450/ARC or AT-1108/ARC
Description: The ARC-55 is an AM radio set designed for use in rotory- and fixed-wing aircraft. It provides two-way voice communications between aircraft in flight or aircraft and ground stations. The set also provides one predetermined guard channel between 238.0 and 248.0 MHz. A barometric switch reduces RF output at altitudes above 15000 feet. Not compatable with speech security devices.
